Life is a tapestry created by many seasons, storms and shifting of relationships. This certainly describes my own experience. I am Barbara Martin and I have a passion to help heal, equip, and empower Christian parents to support their children through trauma and separation.
I have learned that God doesn't waste anything! He gathers every circumstance and event of my life to weave into my personal tapestry, then utilizes it to help parents, children, and grandchildren--in short, the generations! Everyone's life tapestry is unique and I want to help you weave a beautiful tapestry that passes peace and hope on as your generational legacy.
The first fiber in my tapestry is teaching. I have worked with a wide-variety of children in grades K-8 and their parents in both good and difficult circumstances for over 21 years. I taught in multiple schools, settings, and subjects encompassing high income to under privileged schools. I have instructed the full range of students from gifted to academically challenged in subjects spanning traditional to technology instruction. I love all children and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of my years teaching and interacting with both children and parents. This love has provided the teaching strand and the family strand that runs the entire width and breadth of my tapestry story.
The second fiber woven gradually in my life was the personal thread of moving from a religious and performance world view to that of intimate relationship with Jesus in my faith journey. I experienced my own personal healing and then taught classes and trained others in inner healing ministry. This facilitated greater influence and outreach into my community. I have prayed with a wide variety of people of all ages. I have witnessed Jesus healing all those who came to Him.
The third fiber consists of the healing unhealthy generational patterns. This amazing fiber became a brilliant thread in my tapestry with the birth of my first granddaughter. I was then blessed with the joys of observing the growth and development of another generation and discovered those wonderful relational aspects of being a grandparent. I observed my grandchildren with a different spiritual perspective than my own children. I influenced their life and learning with a teacher's experience.
This perspective paid off when my grandchildren went through a long-term, traumatic divorce. Because of my healing prayer experience, I recognized that I was watching the wounds addressed in the healing process in reverse—being built from childhood. I asked the Lord what we could do now to prevent them from making bad, life decisions out of their pain. His answer was, “We will write some books together.”
True to His word, we have now written three children's books together. I had tried to write children's books a generation earlier, but this time I had the knowledge of children, emotional healing, training in language arts and technology, and could focus on the purpose of helping my generations for successful completion of them. Offense, Get Off My Fence addresses healing the past, Junk or Joy is about practicing healthy choices in the present, and Taming Tongues is about forging the future. All three book themes play a part in the completion of my tapestry. . .
Coaching! This year the Lord has been weaving all my life experiences, training, overcoming traumas, and writing the three books into a coaching program called RAISE STABLE CHILDREN IN AN UNSTABLE WORLD. The trials I perceived as life shattering, God saw as a unique composition in my tapestry that He could use for the good of others. God transforms the challenging experiences we have overcome so we can reach back and help others struggling through the same trials. I want my hindsight to be your foresight.

Barbara Martin has a B.Ed. in Elementary Education with a major in mathematics, a M.Ed. in Reading and Language Arts, and 21 years of teaching experience in all grades K-8. She is certified with Elijah House Ministries, Revelation Gateways Ministry, and has training in SOZO and Christian Healing Ministry as well as 18 years of experience praying for others' emotional healing. She has also been involved with Robert Henderson's Courts of Heaven for generational cleansing.
